USA Dance of Northern Illinois 15th Anniversary
USA Dance of Northern Illinois 15th Anniversary Celebration - a great success
Our special celebration was fun and many members, friends and vistors enjoyed our regular dance event schedule and especially the special show performed by Derek Pasqualleto and Lena Sidelnilkova. Their 5 dance performance of the American Rhythm 5-Dance event was a great sucess.
The performance of the 5 dance event included Cha-Cha, Rumba, Swing, Bolero and Mambo.
On staff at Tempo in Madison Wisconsin as an instructor, Derek teaches private lessons as well as many of the studio's technique classes. Lena is an active competitor in the professional American rhythm division.
Derek & Lena debuted their partnership at the 2011 Wisconsin State Dancesport Championship placing third in Rising Star Rhythm and making the finals in the Open Professional Rhythm competitions. They can be seen competing in many upcoming professional events around the country including the Havest Moon Ball in Chicago at the beginning of October and The Ohio Star Ball in November.
Our 4th Saturday Dance
We are very fortunate to have so many great professionals in the area willing to offer their skills in our lesson period each month. Different dances are taught each month with some lessons being more challenging so we can help all levels of dancers. Do not miss the lesson each month!
Our many dance instructor friends can be found on the Instruction page of our website. If thinking of lessons please patronize these friends of USA Dance.
Attendees to the 4th Saturday dance enjoy several sets of properly timed recorded music. The 30 minute sets offer a wide and varied range of dance style and tempo selected from different eras. The music selected each month could be from the 1800's through current hits and offer beats that work well for ballroom dancing. Most months our music experts will bias some of the music toward the lesson of the evening but we are always given a great variety and at the end of the evening there is always time for requests, of dance type if not specific songs.
Interspersed in the open dancing are two mixers, the first at about 8:30PM is a Fox Trot and the second, later in the evening, is a Waltz. Both continue to have great participation. Our mixers make the 4th Saturday dance popular with both couples and singles. The mixers give singles an opportunity to get on the dance floor even if they are to shy to ask someone and gives everyone the chance to dance with partners of all skill levels. Dancing with different partners allows the men to perfect the difficult task of leading and women the equally tricky job of following. Most instructors recommend dancing with different partners to increase skills and expand the enjoyment of ballroom dance.
We have two dances eight months of the year and a single dance in the months of June, July, August and December. See our Schedule
